Area Law Enforcement
Around 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.
Police report they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.
The fluid had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then discovered many other marked cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement state early analysis suggest the liquid was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; investigators are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the event," they stated.
City officials stated they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the community for tips.
A senior political figure commented the vandalism left him stunned and required to be resolved rapidly.
"This act affects the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on online, recalling the death of nine people by a assailant focusing on residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
