'People are fearful' - the reasons 'juggernaut' Arsenal have become the team to beat.

There's no doubt why Arsenal stand as many people's preferred choice to claim the Premier League in the current campaign.

Examine their performances against West Ham and Crystal Palace compared to those identical matches last season.

The Gunners have defeated all of them in the current season, but dropped 10 points across those games as they dropped off in the title race in the prior campaign.

Defensive Strength

Arsenal's backline resilience is a crucial element why they are seeming ready to finally fulfil their title target.

They lead the league for unbreached games (6), shots let in (3), opposition efforts (72), dangerous chances allowed (19) and anticipated concessions (5.3).

The defensive partnership of Gabriel and William Saliba is potentially the strongest in the league, with Arsenal keeping a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Dead-Ball Superiority

Their danger from dead balls is well known, but competing clubs still find it difficult to contain the Gunners from these situations.

They have notched 11 times from set-pieces in the league, a couple extra than any other side, with 69% of their goals coming from these situations.

"Arsenal can do a bit of everything now. The whole team has a fear factor. People are just afraid of them and it is excellent to see."

Championship Credentials

What is particularly impressive about Arsenal's commencement to the campaign is they have also faced Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United on the road and Manchester City on home turf - and are still ahead by four points at the top.

While they continue triumphing, their historic competitors aren't faring so well. This marks the initial occasion at this point of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The pressure was on boss Mikel Arteta at the start, having allocated around £250m on eight summer acquisitions in search of that elusive first title since 2004.

But the investment has so far paid off in impressive fashion, with his side second top scorers in the league and possessing the tightest defense, despite several injuries.

  • Unbreached games in three straight Premier League games
  • Over six hours without allowing a goal
  • Only three goals in 12 games across all competitions

Former players and experts have labeled Arteta's men as a "powerhouse, looking difficult to stop" with the whole club now operating with belief and resolve.
