Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The latest chapter concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of characters who will split off from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might appear unsuited, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group understands precisely where to go next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—used the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, attacking the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
Casimir then paid off his debts and fled to a secure base in the remote area, north of the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the region and advises that it is a hostile place.
- Tyranny and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- However, their position as important members in the powerful family could enable the group enter places they usually can’t.
- Additionally, Teor pledged a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
From episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Explorers and Planners tables.
Fans can look forward to discovering which players will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on the upcoming Thursday.
